THE BEAT OF A DRUM

#Black History Time, Giving respect for a vision to the rhythm that never gets old.

Bang! Bang! Bang!,
I know you thought it was a gun,
No! No! No!,
It was the beat of a drum,
We can dance to it, we can sing with it too,
We can always take a moment to meditate to it’s mystical groove.

Boom! Boom! Boom!,
I know you thought it was a bomb,
Ha! Ha! Ha!,
It was the beat of a drum,
Our ancestors created it for us to understand where we come from.

The beat of the drum was the vibration which lifted their souls,
Giving respect for a vision to the rhythm that never gets old.
The original beat was embedded from our past for the future generations to come.
As the story repeats itself, same sentiment of the drum.

The drum created for where we kept all self respect.
Held by the drum to remember our stories with intellect,
Never to neglect, always a way to reflect.
Save your bet, for through pain and sufferance,
Never breaking our spirit as of yet.

Whack! Whack! Whack!,
I know you thought it was a whip,
Never ever did you all think that the drum is what we came equipped with.
So soothing, not even a savage beast could beat,
For in this bloodline, some things you could never defeat.

Talk with God,
For the drum was created from our past, for the present and to the future.
Lord, I hope for the blind may feel or see.
For the beat of a drum is life and freedom, for people of our ancestry.
Like some of you, with the same ancestral like of me.

The drum defines the rhythm in our melanin of you and me,
From our ancestors with dignity and integrity,
Lest not ever forget where we come from, no matter the lost,
Always remember the drum does not come with a cost.
So unique, a sound, so sweet, never forget that spiritual beat.

Bam! Bam! Bam!,
I know you thought it was a bat-a-ram,
No! not this time, for it was the drum beaten for all to gather around.
Tapping into the spirit to open our ears for God’s joyful noise of sound.
In finding direction to where we would be held and or bound.

Never lost, by God, always found,
For the drumbeat is what keeps us sound.
The beat of a drum still keeps us presently around.

SHE WAS SUN

Naturally delivers a ray of Hope

She was Sun,
She sets by a ray of light,
Whilst going down, coordinating color,
She would rise by light of day to brighten it,
She was Sun,
She glares through the internal focal window.

She was Sun,
She awakens the sky of heavenly light,
When raising up, she comes to enlighten the day,
She endures thee darkness to bring light,
She was Sun,
Shining brightly, like an always lit lantern.

She was Sun,
She sustains the sky, for it’s never ending gleam,
Ultimately she extends sovereignty inside a moment feel,
She allows more light to lift internal spirit,
She was Sun,
Energizing the nature of well being

She was Sun,
She fulfills a sight unseen to be seen,
Whenever she glows up, many winter’s relief prevail,
She shines the electrical firework spark, setting off light,
She was Sun,
Storms come to an ending at this time.

She was Sun,
She evens the blinding sands upon plains,
Always ready to brighten, for what is next she has in store,
She prospers from a healing of health and nature,
She was Sun,
Seasons change, equating a change to nurture.

She was Sun,
She radiates power with emergence,
Always able to melt the freeze of shivers,
She turns up light into a new morning day,
She was Sun,
Naturally delivers a ray of Hope.

She was Sun.

JUST A PERSISTENT SHADOW

Just a persistent shadow,
Climbed through the window of my mind,
Thought out loudly,
Eyes wide open,
Tried to shake the shadow,
It was a breeze of an incoherent being.

So persistent,
So debilitating,
For through this shadow was pain,
Pulled the safety off,
Breathed in so deeply, exhaled so calmly,
Strength took over and let it go.

The aftermath was serenity and delight,
The reality was, it came by way of vibration,
A break of thought was required,
This was one heck of a break,
For this was just a persistent shadow.

I LOST MY TWO BROTHERS

(Written with my emotions)

I lost my two brothers, seems like yesterday,
For with this loss, bereavement continues to stay,
I could have never imagined, this would happen within ten days,
Even with knowing, we will all exit this earth someday.

I lost my two brothers, left me with such an unexpected impact,
Parting ways was the hardest for me, this is my fact,
Although it has been written, no more pain or sorrow,
Left me with heartbreak of missing them, many days after that tomorrow.

I am still so saddened, for my heart stills weighs, heavy past the abyss
Pain within my heart, still to this day exist,
I am realistic, so I must accept this in memory of them both,
I must get down on my knees for strength, and pray at the oath.

I lost my two brothers, the rain inside my heart continues flowing around,
No tears of joy yet, only to cry out to the Lord to help settle me down,
Sometimes, I think, when I think of them, I know their place is better,
For I also know I need to pull myself together.

For in the end of their lives on this earth, we will be together again,
No more rain, only sunshine and birds singing through the winds within,
I pray for mercy to help me to release this pressure on my heart
For losing my two brothers is one of life’s lessons learned from the start.

Rest in Peace Carl and Earl,
By way of my prayers,
I Just want you both to know,
Both of you my brothers, were all that and a bag of pearls.

God Almighty is One who knows,
My prayers oftentimes,
Give me the uplift I need, to continue to let you two go.
I know my brothers, while departing this earth we came to an end,
Knowing you were not just my two brothers, you were my best friends.

A LOVE SO RELENTLESS

They had a love so relentless.

They had a love so relentless, nothing could sway the beauty of their heaven. The love they shared was always full of nature and emotion. The palpitations of the water beating upon the border rocks of the coastline. The coastline of nature is what brought them together to each other’s heart. For they had a love so relentless.

The fog clouded the force of negativity for their love to outweigh it. Through a sweet smell of pine extracted from a tree nearby. A wispy wind of air blew inside their chests, emerging and igniting a powerful feeling of euphoria. They looked to the sky and sparks began to fly between them. For they had a love so relentless.

The clouds gave way for the sun to shine into their happy space. Their smiles began to share between them with the show of a rainbow. A sheet of rain started to fall upon their heads with a soothing and vibrant calming. They stared deeply at one another with wet faces and teeth showing. For
they had a love so relentless.

They climbed to a mountain top to look at the view. The day was pleasing to them once they got to the top of the mountain. The air became thinner so they had to breathe from each other’s breath. They relaxed and held hands the duration. The electricity surged between them now creating power. For
they had a love so relentless.

REMEMBER

An imprint was left on many a souls

Remember,
An imprint was left on many a souls,
Remember,
Uncivilized treatment from years of old,
For the many who told the truth, had been broken,
Therefore, the truth was treated as an unethical token,
Remember,
What still remains, is the memories of a sordid past, unspoken,
Remember,
The imprint was a stain on lives of the many innocent,
Remember,
The time is now for those who did this, to open your heart to repent it
Remember.
To whom it may concern, along with all involved, do a rethink in order to get to a resolve.
Remember.

A MAN NAMED SICK ©

I knew this man

I knew this man named Sick,
The way he talked and the way he walked,
I knew he was slick,
He told me he was sharp on his game,
I told him truth would be his claim to fame.

Sick said he didn’t have to play by the rules,
I told Sick, he could end up in all the wrong schools,
Sick said, I am too damn overtly clever,
I said Sick, you are headed to that place called never,
Sick spoke about all he would do not to get to that place ever.

I told Sick to rethink his thoughts and change his ways,
Sick said, why should I? I’ve been doing this all my days,
I said, I don’t care what you do,
I’m giving you advice, just to help save yourself from you.

Sick just laughed at me and said, listen woman you can’t tell me nothing
that’s already embedded in my head,
I told Sick, you are so animated, inadequate, ignorant and not well read,
For the consequences of your lesser deeds of what you portray are gonna get you busted all upside your head.

I felt in my gut, this would be the last time I would ever see Sick again,
Knowing him from childhood and the neighborhood, he had become sin,
Moving forward from our conversation that day, I felt a need to pray,
For I knew Sick would not live a long life doing things in his way.

My day was done, so I decided to watch the six o’clock news, to my dismay,
The news struck my nerve about the conversation I had with Sick that day,
The reporter said, a young man was struck down by three bullets to the head,
News traveled fast from the neighbors, saying it was someone from our neighborhood, which was called and known as The Shred.

Sitting still I gazed at the television thinking about my premonition,
I was hoping it wasn’t the person whom I had envisioned,
Sick was the first person who came to my mind.
I said, Oh Lord, please no more death at this time.

Following my first mind, I rushed to the hospital to see if it was Sick,
The doctor asked me if I could and would identify this man,
I said I know this man and yes I can,
I told the doctor we all called him Sick but his true birth name was Rick.

The doctor continued with the scenario of what his gunshot wounds were,
The doctor also told of Sick’s last words of what the strife Sick had incurred,
At this time all the doctors gathered around me, while one told me he held on to his life as long as he could
for there was nothing else they could do or would,

Another doctor said, Sick was screaming and shouting for us to save his life,
He asked this particular doctor to call the woman who gave him the best advice.

RIP SICK.
